Honors 450 Mysteries of the Labyrinth

Over the centuries, the labyrinth has served as a metaphor for the journey of life.  Different kinds of labyrinths can be found in ancient as well as contemporary cultures.  For instance, the labyrinth in Chartres Cathedral in France has recently been reproduced in the indoor and outdoor labyrinths of Grace Cathedral in San Francisco .

Participants in this Honors topics course will study the labyrinth together as we read and several books and films on the subject.  Each participant will select one aspect of the topic for his or her individual project, which will culminate in a presentation to the entire group.  This course will also have an important experiential component as our group works to construct and walk various kinds of labyrinths.
