25 - 30, 2001: Students and faculty from MSU, Mankato attend the
Annual Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology Conference
in San Diego, California.

April
20, 2001: Bernard Weiner, Psychology Professor from UCLA, will be
on campus to speak to students.

Spring
Semester 2001: Nokia and Midwest Wireless provide MSU, Mankato I/O
students with web-enabled cell phones. The students are serving
as participants in a semester-long study of the usability of wireless
surveys and polls.

May
2000: The I/O HF program travels to England and Scotland for
industrial site tours and new cultural experiences. Some of the sites
visited included: The Tavistock Institute, Lloyds of London, Defense

March
2000: American Express Financial Advisors hosted the 2000 MSU-Mankato
Consulting Challenge. During this three day contest, students
participated on 2-3 person teams. Each team was given a packet of
information containing a description of a fictitious company problem
and an accompanying report. After analyzing the report, teams
prepared a written proposal that included a detailed plan for an
intervention and budget. The teams presented their proposals to a
panel of judges comprised of company representatives, faculty,
consultants, and graduate students. Andy Dybvig and Sara Koschmeder
won the contest.
While
in Atlanta, students are given the opportunity to tour Coca-Cola.

State University, Mankato.

The greater Mankato
community, consisting of Mankato and North Mankato, is located in the
scenic Minnesota River valley approximately 80 miles southwest of
Minneapolis-St. Paul. The combined populations are more than 42,000.

Area businesses are well
balanced between commercial, industrial and agricultural. Employment
opportunities are offered in health care, education, high technology,
manufacturing, printing, retail and service- related industries.
The communities of
Mankato/North Mankato are a regional medical center offering the services
of more than 100 physicians and the care of a large medical center,
Immanuel St. Joseph's-Mayo Health System.
The new Mankato Civic Center
seats up to 7,000 people and hosts conventions, sporting events, trade
shows, seminars and a variety of celebrations.
Recreation
There are more than 50 lakes
within 15 miles of Mankato/North Mankato for fishing, boating, and
swimming.
Opportunities for walking,
jogging or bicycling exist in 47 parks and three hiking trails.
The immediate Mankato/North
Mankato area has four golf courses and there are another half dozen in the
surrounding region.
Mount Kato offers
mid-western skiing experiences on 17 trails in the winter and five miles
of mountain biking opportunities in the summer.
Mankato is the location of
the summer training camp of the Minnesota Vikings.
Professional sports teams,
including the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Timberwolves and the Minnesota
Vikings play in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.
