Hello, my name is J.J. Lopez and I teach various geography courses at Minnesota State University. The intent of this website is to acclimate students to my classes. I began teaching at Minnesota State in 1998. Before coming to MSU, I taught briefly at Saint Mary-Of-The-Woods College. In addition, I instructed geography courses at the University of Puerto Rico during my sabbatical year.
My main area of research is social geography. My published work has focused on the impact of economic and demographic change on the occurrence of crime. Over the years, I have been involved in the instruction of many systematic courses including Spatial Statistics, Spatial Analysis with GIS, Cultural Geography, Economic Geography, Social Geography, and GIS for Crime Analysis.
