Kripke, Saul, Wittgenstein on Rules and Private Language,
(Cambridge: Harvard University Press, 1982).
This is the book that stood
Wittgenstein commentary on its ear. The book took shape over many years and as
is the way with Kripke's work, it began as a series of talks and lectures. As
noted elsewhere, Kripke has yet to respond to any of the critics of this book.
