Financial Accounting Assignment

Read “Financial Capacity and Sustainability of Ordinary Nonprofits” by Woods Bowman (Nonprofit Management and Leadership, 2011, 22(1), 37-51), which is also in D2L contents.

Go to GuideStar (or some other source for IRS 990s) and identify 5 nonprofit organizations that have something in common (geography, area of focus, size/scale of operation, etc.).

Compare and contrast their financial health using the ratios developed by Bowman using their most recent IRS 990 returns.

Create and post to D2L a chart displaying the key ratios for the five organizations. They key ratios are:

Equity ratio
Return on assets
Months of spending
Mark-Up

Suppose you have been offered a job at one of the organzations (pick one; your choice). Post to D2L the questions you would want the Board to answer before you would consider taking a job there.
