URBS 230 —Community Leadership and Service Learning
Book Review
This is an exercise in analytical writing. Del Mar College has a very good short description of the book review.
For this assignment, you must write a review of a book on community leadership. While you will be sharing your review with the entire class (post your reviews to the course website), assume that the audience for your review is the newsletter of a community action agency (the newsletter goes to residents in the community). You may review any book listed in the bibliography for this course (as long as no one else has already claimed that book), or any other appropriate book (get my permission first).
I will assess your review based on
- Completeness (are the three sections fully addressed?)
- Strength of analysis (are the arguments convincing? Does the analysis show insight into the organization & the roles it plays?)
- Mechanics (is the grammar, spelling, and punctuation appropriate?)
