December 2006

The S.T.O.P. Public Achievement team has worked over the first half of the year to create an open and democratic space in which to address the issue of child abuse. The team has begun to develop the critical skills that are necessary for being active citizens. The team has determined who the stakeholders are regarding the issue and begun to further research the topic and the people involved. The team’s goal is to better understand the issue themselves, and to make an impact in the community regarding the issue. Over the rest of the year the team hopes to develop and implement a project in regards to child abuse.

April 2007
During the second half of the year, the team developed and implemented a project to affect the issue of child abuse. The team compiled information to create a pamphlet on child abuse statistics, how to identify abuse, and how to get help. The team also organized a bake sale to raise money for Prevent Child Abuse Minnesota (PCAMN). The team worked on ways to make their bake sale effective including posters, a networking system, and a school announcement. The team was able to work in a democratic setting to accomplish their goals.
