The goal of Team Safety was to help the community by building a paintball field in the North Mankato or Mankato city limits. This was a huge undertaking that was beyond our scope. Instead we focused on spreading the principles of paintball safety. Tommy of “Tommy Gun Paint Wars” visited Dakota Meadows on April 20, 2006 and gave a safety presentation to the 7th and 8th graders. Tommy also donated a book about paintball to the school library. Team Safety could never have accomplished its goals without the help of the 7th grade Public Achievement group Team SPLAT. We had also planned a field trip to Tommy Guns after demonstrating knowledge of paintball safety. Unfortunately we had to cancel our trip due to inclement weather.

The goal of Team Safety is help the community by building a paintball field in the North Mankato or Mankato city limits. The closest fields are over forty-five miles away, which is too far for people without transportation. Paintball is a fun and exciting activity, which fosters skills such as teamwork, strategy, endurance, while, in a pressured environment. We feel that all the youths, and youths at heart in the community can enjoy a paintball field. We chose the team name “Safety”, because paintball can be dangerous at times and we advocate safe participation above all else. In our team, we have discussed and applied democratic concepts that will help us accomplish our goal. We have hit a few roadblocks along the way but we try to learn from every experience whether it is positive or negative. So far, our group has written a letter to both Tommy gun’s Paint wars in New Ulm, MN, and Action Packed paintball in Jordan, MN, which asked if they have any interest in expanding their businesses to the Mankato Area. We look forward to hearing a reply. We also have contact information for the City of Mankato’s community development department.
