(Training dives and Local dives)

Local Dives- I am putting together a call list for local diving.  A lot of the local dives are planned on pump nights and I don’t have time to get emails out for the diving that weekend.  If you would like to be placed on this list, please let me know.  Thanks.  John Chapman (507-276-2044 or dawg@hickorytech.net)

(Memorial weekend)-

The weekend started out with the club installing the buoys on Lake Kohlmier.  With no triathlon, we went to work right away.  This time the lake claims a dive knife (Last year was a weight belt), so if you are diving there, look for a knife and weight belt.  Once the buoys where set, the club did a recover of a picnic table that some one placed by the platform.  Park and Rec appreciated the club for placing the buoys and recovering the table.

Sunday the club went up to place the buoy on the Hesper.  This year the weather was way better than last year.  The club also did a little more digging around what we think is the anchor, but only got down about another foot.  Visibility was great until the digging was started.  After a couple dives, the club headed home with the stop at Hinckley for some crab leg at the casino.

(Open water check out)-

The club had there open water check out down at Mason City, IA this year.  There was 10 students that certified and several other club members that where down to help out and dive.  The club stayed at the camp ground in Mason City.  The rodent problem that we had at Bay field last year turned up at the camp ground that weekend.  A squirrel attacked one camper and then remained on a vehicle the rest of the weekend ready to attacked any one that walked by.  It also found a companion to sit with him (a small dog).  There where a few new creatures that turned up. One camper had a partially alive rat that tried to escape when the owners enter there camper, but didn’t succeed.  The weekend weather was great and everyone had a good time.

à         Next Club Meeting is July 10 ß

8:00 pm.

Video presentation will be held-

Video #1- Lake Superior lake level

Video #2- Ryan Deering in trouble with the law and was tased.
