Constitution for Bangladesh Student Association (BSA)

 

Theme:

The name of this association shall always be Bangladesh Student Association (BSA) unless it’s suggested otherwise by its rightful members.

Statement of Purpose:

We, the members of BSA (Bangladesh Student Association), belong to this association by our nationality right and henceforth unite together to actively participate in promoting good will and sharing culture with the MSU community.

Eligibility of membership to this association:

·        Must be a national of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. However, exceptions will be made in individual cases considering the good prospect of the association. A conclusion will be reached by the executive board of the Association.

·        Must be an enrolled student at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

·        Membership is free.

Responsibilities of the members:

·        Actively assist in any event conducted or participated in by the Association.

·        Help every new-coming members of the association in as many aspects as possible.

·        Report any sort of foul play within the association to every member on the executive board of the association.

·        Always strive to create a positive image of the association to other people.

·        Attend all the meetings called for by the President of the Association. In case of failure to attend the meeting, the President must be notified before the meeting is conducted.

·        Only four absences will be allowed from the meetings per year.

·        Actively participating in the discussion during the meeting is highly encouraged.

Skeleton of the Executive Board in order of ranking (highest to lowest):

Advisor

President

Vice-President

Secretary

Treasurer, Director of Webmaster, Sports, Entertainment, Cooking.

Responsibilities of the executive board:

·        All of the Executive Board Members (except the Advisor) must remain present in all of the meetings of the Association. Executive Members will be allowed no absence except for emergency cases.

·        Executive Board members are to supervise the different areas as assigned to them during any event to ensure that everything is working out properly.

·        President and Vice-President:

 

Ø     Will recruit volunteers for any event.

Ø     Will be responsible for informing the association members about the ongoing within the association.

Ø     Has to send a full report of the semester to all its members.

Ø     Will supervise every area of the events.

·        Secretary:

Ø     Has to keep record of the meeting minutes.

Ø     Assist the President and the Vice-President in all categories as required.

Ø     Should take over in absence of both the President and the Vice-President and act as an acting President until the appointment of a new President.

Ø     Should attend the RSO meetings and report the President and the Vice-President as soon as possible.

Motion and Voting Rights:

Motion can be passed by anyone attending the meeting, provided that the individual is an enlisted member of the Association.

Except the President and the Vice-President, everyone else can vote regarding the motion. The motion will be passed if and only if more than 50% of the members support it. In case of abstinence by all of the members, the President and the Vice-President together will decide on the issue.

Term of Presidency and Vice-Presidency:

 Individuals holding the posts of the President and Vice-President of the Association can resume as the corresponding officers for a maximum of one year. However, in case of unavailability of candidates for these positions, due to unavoidable circumstance, the contemporary President and Vice-President can resume the positions, at their will.
