Dr. Raymond Asomani–Boateng is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Planning in the Urban and Regional Studies Institute at Minnesota State University. He is a native of Ghana educated in Ghana, Canada, and the United States. He holds B.Sc. (Hon's) in Development Planning (Ghana), a B.A. (Hon's) in Urban and Regional Planning (Toronto), an MA in Regional Planning and Resource Development and a Ph.D. in Environmental Planning (Waterloo). He is at the moment pursuing a Masters degree in Geographical Information Science at Michigan State University. His primary scholarly interests are in areas of solid waste management, urban agriculture, urban sustainability, indigenous urban forms and urban growth management. He has published in internationally renowned journals: Biocycle, Journal of Environmental Systems, Third World Planning Review, Habitat International, Warmer Bulletin, and Water Resources Outlook. At Minnesota State Raymond teaches graduate courses (Planning Process and Theory, Environmental Planning, GIS for Planners, and Studio) and undergraduate courses (Introduction to the City, Sustainable Communities, Urban Analysis, and Geography of Africa). He has also taught in the Geography department at Central Michigan University.
