In 1990 the S. June Smith Center was selected as a national philanthropy. The center is located in Lancaster county Pennsylvania and is named after Alpha Sigma Alpha member Dr. S. June Smith, Kappa Kappa Chapter. The S. June Smith Center is a private non-profit agency providing early identification, education, training and therapy to infants and children with developmental disabilities and delays. Every member nationwide supports the center. This year the Zeta Kappa chapter made the children Valentine’s Day Cards.

In 1976 the Special Olympics was named as the national philanthropic project. Special Olympics provides sports training and competition opportunities for children and adults with mental retardation. It seeks the prevention of mental retardation by identifying its causes, and helps to improve how society deals with its citizens who have mental retardation. Today Alpha Sigma Alphas around the country volunteer as judges, timers, and huggers for Special Olympics events. Every year in May the Zeta Kappa chapter assists with the Minnesota Special Olympics held at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter.

The Zeta Kappa chapter of Alpha Sigma Alpha joins hands with the community members in this outreach program that is geared toward youth suicide prevention. We fundraise and donate our time to help Yellow Ribbon save lives.
Dance Marathon is an annual charity event that MSU greek organizations participate in. The event supports Children's Miracle Network, and more locally, Gillete Children's Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. Children's Miracle network provides monetary donations to families of disabled children who need funding for their children's medical expenses.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. Habitat seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit, financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments are used to build more Habitat houses. In addition to a down payment and the monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor -- sweat equity -- into building their Habitat house and the houses of others. The Zeta Kappa chapter helps the MSU Habitat chapter build homes for local Mankato Families.
