These are HyperCard© stacks that I use in my Behavioral Experiments and Conditioning courses. They're really hacks, but they seem to work!
Minimal documentation is included on the Instructions card in the programs; I'll be glad to answer questions. They are freeware; use them as you wish. All they need to run is a reasonably current (v2.2) HyperCard© player, which came with most older Macintosh computers and is still freely available. Just don't sell them, modify or redistribute them without attribution (I do retain copyright).
- ChoiceRT:
- Simple and choice reaction times to auditory, visual and textual stimuli. The responses are the P and Q keys on the keyboard. Timing is in hundredths of a second.
- ESP:
- A simple ESP guessing game. A basic statistical data analysis program (Test for the Significance of the Difference Between Two Proportions) is included in the stack. The subject must guess which of two keys the computer has programmed as correct on each trial. In the experimental condition the experimenter is shown which key will be correct, and the subject must read the experimenter's mind.
- RatRaceFR:
- A simple video game that involves moving a rat through a maze by pressing two keys on the keyboard. The work requirement on one key is varied between eight and 16 responses, while the requirement on the other is held constant at eight.
- RatRaceFI:
- Same as above, but the schedule on the two keys is now a Fixed Interval of 20 seconds. The data analysis is fairly sophisticated; the intervals are divided into sixteenths and an InterResponse Time distribution is also provided.
- If you have problems running the short version above, download this larger file.
