How to Chose an EBTD Provider
Guidelines for the Consumer:
General Program Guidelines:
- What realistic outcomes can I expect from a program?
- How much of the program is activity-based? How much of
the material is presented outdoors? In the classroom?
- Who will facilitate our program? What experience and
skills do they have to offer?
- How do you think our business/department will benefit
from EBTD?
- What types of risk activities might we experience? How
are these controlled?
- Will the provider customize the curriculum to meet our
companyís unique needs?
- Do you provide an initial consultation? A needs assessment?
- How will you help our group transfer and apply this information
to the workplace?
- What kind of follow-up can be expected?
- Will the program allow us to visit the site prior to
signing the contract?
Sample Questions to ask about a Ropes/Challenge Course or Other Outdoor
Adventure Programs?
- How will the staff support a safe, supportive environment?
- When did the course do its last internal/external inspection/safety
review?
- What level of first aid and C.P.R certification does
the staff have?
- Is your organization affiliated with another organization,
e.g., Association for Experiential Education, Wilderness Education association,
American Camping Association, etc.?
- Is your organization accredited by any of the above?
- How does your organization stay abreast of current safety
standards?
- Does your program carry general liability insurance?
- What type of medical screening is needed for your program?
- Is emergency help readily available?
Overall, consider the following:
Do you feel comfortable with this provider?
Do their values and presentation match the needs of the
company?
Can you trust their program and feel assured putting your
company into their hands?
